Concerti - Bach and Haydn
Created during live concert performance with Viktoria Mullova and the Academy of Ancient Music, Milton Court Concert Hall, London, November 2019 |
Relying entirely on aural and emotional sense, in these works I attempt to capture the essential spirit and form of individual concerto and symphony movements as experienced in live concert performance. Works by C.P.E Bach, J.S. Bach and Haydn - each with its own very individual character, tempo and tone - all drawn in fast succession during live concert performance. This was an an experiment in abstraction - in individualised abstraction - which demanded instant bold decisions and fast synthesis of sound and mark.
