Small street performances, drawn somewhere between stage and self. Simultaneously interior and exterior, public and private, the drawings brought together here as Stage Works use traditional drawing constructs to create stage-like arenas, allowing scenarios and characters to emerge with as little conscious interference as possible. Theatrical improvisations and figments of mind built upon the scaffolding of the real.
Initially playful and sketchy in approach, gaining gravitas, Stage Works conjure a transitory, shifting subjunctive, an ambiguous space adjacent to the real where psychological relations, transitions and turning points are explored. View further works in this series:
